Frezer Abebe Dulume

Implementation Fellow

Frezer Abebe Dulume is a nutritionist who earned a Masters of Science in Applied Human Nutrition (MSc) in November 2014 from Hawassa University and a Bachelor of Science in July 2007 from Jimma University. She has over 12 years of experience in various health tier systems, including working as a Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Integrated Diseases Surveillance Response (IDSR) supervisor at the Borena Zone, Dugda Dawa woreda health office from October 2007 to November 2014; and as a Food manufacturers inspector at the Ethiopia Food, Medicine & Healthcare Administration from October 2007 to November 2014.

She is currently an implementation fellow on HaSET. Starting from April 2015, she is a senior national maternal and child health expert, working on policy & strategy formulation, developing different implementation guidelines, training materials. She also engaged in designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating of programs by working closely with sub national, international stakeholders, partners and donors. She also has a role of organizing, coordinating workshops, review meeting, training and panel discussions. More specifically her engagement on wasting is working on both routine and emergency management of acute malnutrition. She is also a member and country representative of Integration of Wasting Treatment into Routine Health Systems External Advisory Group and a chairman of the national community-based management of acute malnutrition. Her special interest in research is, very much happy to work implementation research in new innovative and high impact proven interventions to see whether these evidences can be worked in our country or not. Generating context specific evidence is her special interest on the thematic area on the management of acute malnutrition on simplified approach and family/Mother MUAC. From HaSET fellowship, she believes that she’ll be able to develop both knowledge and skills on data analysis and translating evidences to program implementation and working on high impact proven innovative initiatives.
