Mahlet Abayneh is director of neonatology at HaSET non-profit based in Ethiopia. She is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Child health, Neonatologist at St Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College Department of Pediatrics and Child health. Mahlet completed her medical school at University of Gondar, then residency in pediatrics and child health at Addis Ababa University. She has done her fellowship in neonatology at St Paul’s Hospital Millennium medical College in collaboration with St John’s Medical College, Bangalore, India. Currently she is the division head for the neonatal intensive care unit at SPHMMC. She is the technical working group for newborn health at the Federal ministry of health Ethiopia. She is the country lead for African Neonatal network and member of African Neonatal Association.

Currently she provides clinical services, teaches medical students, mentors pediatric residents, and fellows in neonatology. She is involved in various researches and has 15 publications and is the principal investigator for WHO probiotic study.
