Addisalem Fikre is a result oriented public health professional of over 13 years progressive work experience with technical skills in the areas of newborn and child health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS and research (implementation, operational and monitoring and evaluation). He is responsible for designing, managing, coordinating and implementing Birhan project, recruiting and managing professional teams, and directing administration tasks.  Before joining Birhan, he managed an implementation research study to scale-up kangaroo mother care in Ethiopia and led the design and conduct of formative research to identify barriers and design scalable models, implementation of these models, and evaluation of these models with an eye towards wider national and state-level scale-up with Harvard and Addis Ababa University.

Prior to this, he managed operational research projects for Tufts University – Africa Regional Office; served as HIV/AIDS project coordinator at FENAPD (Federation of Ethiopian Association for Persons with Disabilities), was the Head of research and training at Clear Impact Consult (CIC) and Head of Bulehora Health Center in Oromia Region.  Moreover, with master’s and BSc degree in Public Health from Haramaya University as well as a BA in Management from St. Mary’s University College, Addisalem has exceeded in identifying and collecting grey literatures, published literatures in areas of nutrition, maternal, newborn and child health, etc., developed guidelines, and training manuals, participated in qualitative and quantitative Surveys on Tb, HIV/AIDS, Nutrition, etc., facilitated STI, nutrition, and newborn care training programs.
